PRODUCT INFO
Using a product like Akadama lowers the pH of your aquarium and maintains it without affecting your KH, GH, or TDS levels. It provides a much better and safer habitat for your shrimp, and it lasts for up to three years.
One of the finest aspects of akadama is that it is a natural substance that does not pollute the water.
It just alters your pH level, making it the safest product to use. Other aquarium substrates are available, but akadama is by far the most affordable and safest alternative for any beginner or seasoned aquarium owner.
Discus or Apistogramma, as well as many other fish that require a lower pH, can be kept in Akadama. Your pH will be lower as you add more Akadama.
USAGE INSTRUCTIONS
A 250ml cup of akadama should be adequate to reduce your pH by 0.2 to 1 on the pH scale for neocaridina shrimp. A 2cm layer of substrate will suffice for caridina shrimp to achieve the ideal pH of 6 to 7. It's critical to check the pH of your tank or aquarium a week after you've added substrate.
